Schlernhaus (Rifugio Bolzano) to Tierser Alpl (Rifugio Alpe di Tires) Mountain Bike Route

Another nice biking route for the more adventurous mountain bikers… From Völs – Fiè allo Sciliar to the Schlernhaus (Rifugio Bolzano) and from there onwards to Tierser Alpl (Rifugio Alpe di Tires). This track might be better the other way round. Descending towards Völs will however be a tricky as it’s steep. It’s a bit expedition style across the Dolomites, steep and lots of walking with your bike. Some sections you will have to carry your bike on the shoulder.

I did bring my new Rocky Mountain hardtail bike but it’s definitely full suspension country…

Mountain Biking in Toscane Montagnola Senese – Monteriggioni

Biking in Toscane (Tuscany), some nice mountain bike tracks in the Montagnola Senese, the hills West of Siena, Toscane, Italy. These tracks are mainly supposed for walking but can be explored by mountain bike. Some of the walking trails are very steep and descending can be tricky / dangerous. Not for the novice or faint hearted.

There is also a separate bike trail map with routes start/end Monteriggioni. Tracks more suitable for mountain biking.

Bialetti Cafetiere koffiemaker mee op je self drive 4×4 reis

Handige reistip voor (goede) koffie liefhebbers, en dan die reizigers die graag ook tijdens de self drive 4×4 vakantie reis in Afrika een lekkere espresso willen drinken.

Neem een Cafetiere mee op reis, bijvoorbeeld deze 4 kops (= twee personen) variant van Bialetti. Bialetti is de producent van de mooiste en waarschijnlijk ook beste Cafetieres afkomstig uit Italie. Check deze Bialetti link voor meer info.
Goede koffie koop je in Johannesburg, Illy is daar ook te koop. Lavazza is even zoeken maar een rantsoen uit NL mee nemen in je tas kan natuurlijk ook!

Het systeem is heel simpel, water onderin, koffie in het middelste deel, dichtschroeven en op het vuur (gasbrander) zetten.. voila paar minuten later heerlijke espresso koffie!

Tijdens vakanties en self drive reizen gaat er standaard een Cafetiere mee, zowel in Europa als in Afrika. Sterker, we maken ook in Nederland koffie op deze manier!

NB er is ook een electrische variant op 22ovolt voor op reis, compleet met bekertjes in een soort toilet tas! Meer geschikt voor de hotel gast of tijdens 4×4 beurzen op de stand!

New Botswana Safaris

Just published some new Botswana Safaris on the Dutch Tongasabi website. Four small group safaris and one lodge safari. All great itineraries! The small group safaris are a good alternative to the more expensive (private) lodge tours. Prices starting at Euro 975 + US$ 300 local payment for the 10 days classic Botswana safari. Botswana is a must do safari destination. Most interesting areas are the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and the Moremi Game Reseverve. Other areas of interest are Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Nxai Pan National Park and the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans featuring the remote Kubu Island.
